CalWA’s 2011 Project Objectives

California Ag Water Tours

Designed specifically for state and federal legislators & staff as well as partnering organizations, CalWA will shine a light on the world’s leaders in agricultural irrigation & water management technology; the 21st Century California farmer. Through interactive tours of the federal and state water systems & districts, hands on activities and demonstrations of the latest in water management and irrigation technology, legislators and staff will walk away with a real life experience of the revolutionary advancements of modern agriculture in the West as well as a first hand understanding of the challenges facing all of California’s water users. The goal is to educate policy makers. By providing lawmakers and staff with the most accurate & objective facts they will be better equip to make well informed decisions, realize how their decisions affect the state as a whole economy, ecosystem, water system, and leave with a clear understanding the responsibility be expected of them as policymakers in such an important time in California history.  Ultimately, visitors will walk away knowing they have a reliable resource and ally on all things regarding ag water management in CalWA.

E-Newsletter

Like never before the California voting public is interested in the very real issue of water management. But with so many extreme voices weighing in on the issue, it’s hard for the average Californian to find the reasonable common-sense truth. Through a monthly e-newsletter, CalWA will provide the same voice of reason is presents in the halls of Sacramento and Washington into the hands of the everyday Californian. Updates on the latest in federal and state water news, putting the complicated world of CA water management into basic understandable language, CalWA will work to inform, educate, and activate its readers; arming them with the knowledge and confidence to speak out and take action on behalf of a balanced and forward thinking approach to the state’s water management. This project also lends itself to engaging and training the next generation of water leaders in California by providing a viable publication for members to learn and engage in written dialogue with experts in one of California’s most established fields of study through this engaging and cutting edge medium.

As the Alliance’s reputation as a solution based, young & forward thinking, collaborative group continues to grow, now more than ever it is important for the Alliance to build its profile and presence in Sacramento and Washington DC. By brining board and general members of CalWA into our capital cities, a refreshing, intriguing, and enlightening dose of common sense, youthful innovation, and reality enters the offices of state and federal decision makers.
